Super Eagles star suspended by clubside

Spanish Segunda Division clubside, SD Huesca, has suspended Super Eagles midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali, after reporting back to the club late from the just concluded AFCON in Cameroon.

The Nigerian midfielder was handed three appearances for the Eagles who crashed out of the AFCON in the round of 16 after a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia.

Nwakali rejoined his Huesca club 10 days late and offered “incredible stories” for his lateness, a statement on the club website revealed.

The midfielder, who has captained both the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets, has been fined and suspended for 10 days without pay.

Nwakali’s contract with Huesca will run out this summer and he could walk away a free agent having rejected a new offer from the club last month.

Nwakali has so far made 18 appearances with two assists.
