Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has completed a move back to African club football, sealing a deal with Moroccan side Maghreb FES after a brief stint in England, IsaGoal can report.
According to report, the 22-year-old terminated his contract with Crawley Town after the club’s relegation to League Two and limited game time.
Tanimu made only ten appearances during his one-year stay with the English third-division side, joining them in August 2024.
The Nigerian centre-back has now undergone a successful medical and is set to sign a two-year contract with Maghreb FES, with the option of a one-year extension.
“Life has a way of bringing us full circle,” Tanimu wrote on his X page, announcing the move. “I feel an overwhelming sense of hope and excitement for the future that awaits.”
He thanked Crawley Town for their support and said he’s eager to connect with the fans in Fes, calling on the “Yellow Tigers” to roar together.
Tanimu has featured three times for the Nigerian national team and was recently praised by Crawley Town’s manager for his resilience after a difficult week.
Before heading to England, he played for Bendel Insurance in Nigeria and Ihefu SC in Tanzania, showing steady progress across African and European leagues.
The move to Morocco offers a fresh start for the defender, who’s looking to make a bigger impact in North African football.
