Sergi Roberto Signs New Barcelona Contract Until 2024
Roberto has been in Barcelona for 16 years since arriving from Gimnastic de Tarragona back in his youth days
Barcelona and experienced utility man Sergi Roberto have come to an agreement over a new one-year contract.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, was able to confirm that both parties had finalized the deal and its details.
Roberto has been in Barcelona for 16 years since arriving from Gimnastic de Tarragona back in his youth days.
Since then, he has become a key asset for the club as he can play many positions from central midfielder to right back.
Unfortunately, recent injuries have hindered his playing time but a gap was opened up due to Hector Bellerin joining Sporting CP in January which enabled Roberto to play more frequently for the Blaugrana.
With 18 appearances totaling 2 goals and 2 assists this season it became clear that extending his contract would be beneficial not only for him but also for Barcelona.
That being said, Barcelona is now officially going through with the paperwork to sign him on a one-year extension as agreed upon by both parties as reported by Fabrizio Romano thus making an imminent official announcement possible soon.
