African qualifiers in the continent saw the likes of Egypt, Tanzania and Ivory Coast secure impressive wins in the qualifying series.

In Group D matches

CAN 2022: Egypt qualifies for Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 | Marca

Egypt defeated Malawi 2-0 at home with Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah netting the first goal in the 20th minute.

Before Omar Marmoush doubled the Pharaoh’s advantage to make it 2-0 in the contest at 45+1 minutes.

Also in Group D

Guinea defeated Ethiopia 2-0 with Francois Kamano’s goal in the 39th minute giving his side the 1-0 lead while Mohamed Bayo scored in the 73rd minute to make it 2-0 for the West African side.

In Group F

Tanzania edged Uganda 0-1 away from home with Simon Msuva netting the solitary goal for Tanzania in the 68th minute.

In Group G

Mali defeated the Gambians 2-0 with Kamory Doumbia and Adama Traore netting in the 3rd minute and in the 93rd minute (via a penalty) to seal the 2-0 home win over the Gambian side.

In Group H

Ivory Coast overcame Comoros Islands 3-1 at home with the Ivorians taking the lead in the 29th minute through Christian Kouame.

In Group K

South Africa 2-2 Liberia

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa played a 2-2 draw at home when Liberia visited them at the Orlando Stadium.

The South Africa side took the lead via a Penalty from Lyle Forster to make it 1-0 in the 11th minute.

Before it became 2-0 in the 22nd minute as South Africa’s Lyle Forster netted his second of the game.

But  Liberia scored in the 68th minute through Tonia Tisdell to make it 2-1 before Mohammed Sangare’s 90+1 minutes long-range effort salvaged a 2-2 draw for Liberia.
