Spanish giant Real Madrid have reportedly emerged as the favorites to land Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer next summer, with Los Blancos holding positive talks with the Chelsea defender over a move.
The German has been locked in negotiations with the Blues over a new contract and the European champions face a race against time to strike terms with his current deal expiring in the summer.
The former AS Roma defender his one of four players whose future at Chelsea is a big concern to Thomas Tuchel, with Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Thiago Silva also facing contractual issues.
According to reports, Rudiger’s uncertain future has opened the door for Los Blancos to hold talks with the 28 year old over a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu, and that negotiations are moving at an encouraging pace.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain are also said to be interested in Rudiger, but Madrid’s positive talks with the Chelsea man put the Spaniard ahead of both teams.
Chelsea’s negotiations with Rudiger have stalled in recent months, with the German demanding a new wage of £200,000 per week from his £90, 000 per week.
Reports have it that the German have turned down an offer of £140,000 per week from Chelsea and the same report claims that Real Madrid are willing to meet his hefty demands.
As things stand, Rudiger still has a strong relationship with the Chelsea’s board and also viewed as a strong personality in the dressing room having consistently impressed with his performance.
While there is still talks between Marina Granovskaia and Rudiger’s agent, the German also revealed he is happy at the club and there is nothing he could do with all the speculation.
