Osimhen Set For Serie A Return After Injury Layoff

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to return to Napoli’s matchday squad for the first time in two months after he took part in team training on Friday.

Osimhen has missed the last two months of action due to a facial injury he suffered in Napoli’s clash against Inter Milan in November.

The ex-Lille man went through successful surgery on the fractured left cheekbone and orbit and was officially ruled out for three months.

But surprisingly, Osimhen returned to individual training two weeks after his surgery, albeit with the aid of a face mask.

His return to training raised expectations that he could represent Nigeria at the AFCON, but he had to pull out after he failed to recover fully.

However, the Nigerian international is now expected to return for Napoli’s Serie A game at Bologna on Monday after returning to team training.

Napoli confirmed the news on their website, although it remains to be seen if he will start the game or make an appearance from the bench.
