Goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, Maduka Okoye, for the first time this season on Saturday, bagged his first clean sheet during Sparta Rotterdam’s spanking of Willem II.

Playing for entire ninety minutes without conceding has been the bane of The Red White Gladiators this season, as they’ve conceded nineteen goals so far.

Also, they’ve only won once, lost six and drawn four in their first eleven games of the Eredivisie this campaign.

But the Super Eagles goaltender and his teammates on Saturday, put behind them the rough patches they’ve tread on, went into the clash at the Koning Willem II Stadion with good mentality and emerged 3-nil winners.

Two goals in two minutes from Bart Vriend put Sparta Rotterdam in good control of the match, before Nigeria-born youngster Emmanuel Emegha scored the final goal in the second half.

The win ended Sparta Rotterdam’s poor run of seven consecutive league games without victory (four defeats, three draws), having last won a league match in September.
