Nigerian sensation, Akinkunmi Amoo, has joined Danish giants, FC Copenhagen for a fee believed to be around €4.5m – the record transfer fee in the club’s history.
The 19-year old forward will be at the Danish Superligaen side for four years deal having left Swedish former clubside, Hammarby IF.
Amoo who joined Hammarby in 2020 after a stellar outing for Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil, has been a revelation in the Swedish Allsvenskan; where he was named the Best Youngster of 2021 Allsvenskan season, after scoring 13 goals and 5 assists in 36 games for Hammarby IF in 2021.
Amoo in a message on the club’s official website, expressed his delight to team up with the club.
“I have had a fantastic time in Hammarby, and I have great respect for the club and the fans there. They gave me the chance and believed in me and I will never forget that,” Amoo said.
Following Monday’s move, Amoo is the second Nigerian in FC Copenhagen after they completed the signing of compatriot Paul Mukairu from Antalyaspor last Thursday.
