Ahead of the 2021/2022 NPFL Season, organizers of the league, LMC, has banned the Kwara State Sports Complex from hosting Kwara United’s NPFL matches.

According to a letter from the league body dated December 9th, 2021, the LMC noted the need to replace the deteriorating astro synthetic pitch, the electronic scoreboard, the match officials dressing rooms, toilets as well as upgrading the stadium to Television standard.

“You will recall that our team recently inspected your preferred home match venue, the Kwara State Complex Stadium, Ilorin in preparation for the kickoff of the 2021-2022 NPFL season.

“The report indicate that serious work need to be done on areas like the match Officials dressing rooms, toilets, Television camera standard and other upgrades etc.

“The Electronic scoreboard needs to be erected and put in good working conditions.

“The Astro turf synthetic pitch of the stadium has completely deteriorated to the extent of posing potential treat users of the facility, you therefore need to replace the pitch.

“In view of the above, we cannot grant approval to Kwara Township stadium Ilorin to host matches of the NPFL for the incoming 2021-2022 season untill the damaged synthetic pitch is replaced.

“You are therefore to indicate an alternative for your home Matches”, the letter reads.

This however comes as a blow for Niger Tornadoes who had adopted the Stadium to thier home matches after their stadium was also not approved.

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) 2021/2022 season will kick off on the 17th of December 2021.
