Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku suffered a knee injury during a friendly match against Borussia Dortmund.
The French international, who recently joined Chelsea in a £53 million transfer from RB Leipzig, was challenged by Mats Hummels and fell during the game.
Although he was able to continue for another 10 minutes, he eventually had to be replaced.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino stated that the doctors are assessing the injury and they hope it is not a major issue.
Nkunku has been impressive in pre-season matches, scoring goals against Wrexham, Brighton, and Fulham.
However, his availability for Chelsea’s opening Premier League match against Liverpool on August 13 is uncertain. Pochettino did not blame the playing surface for the injury, stating that it was simply bad luck.
