Newly Appointed Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo, Names Squad for Upcoming Friendlies

The newly appointed head coach of the Ghana national football team, Otto Addo, has announced his squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda. The 26-man squad features a mix of experienced players and promising newcomers.

Debutants and Returning Players

Five players will be making their debut for the Black Stars in these matches. Frederick Asare from Kotoko, Ibrahim Osman from Nordsjaelland, David Akologo from Club Aurora, Diomande Mohammed from Rangers, and Nathaniel Adjei from Lorient have all been given the opportunity to represent their country for the first time.

Some familiar faces are also returning to the squad. Mohammed Kudus, who impressed at the 2023 African Cup of Nations despite Ghana’s early exit, has been called up. Tariq Lamptey, who missed out on the tournament due to injury, will also make a comeback.

Other players making their return to the team include Patrick Kpozo, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Edmund Addo, who were not included in the previous call-ups.

Captain and Regulars

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew will lead the side in the upcoming matches. He will be joined by regulars such as Jordan Ayew, Osman Bukari, Samed Abdul Samed, Elisha Owusu, and Baba Iddrisu.

Upcoming Matches

Ghana will face Nigeria on Friday, March 22, followed by a match against Uganda four days later in Marrakech, Morocco.
