Newcastle United Shows Interest In Moussa Dembele

Updated

Newcastle United are reportedly considering a January move for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele, following their struggles in the Premier League this season.

The Frenchman had a brief spell on loan at Atletico Madrid last season after they agreed a £1.2m loan with an option to buy permanently for £30m.

Los Rojiblancos failed to take up their option after Dembele’s season was disrupted by injuries and Covid, though Atletico Madrid tried to take Dembele on a second loan only for Lyon to block it.

Since returning to Lyon, Dembele started the Ligue 1 well with four goals in five games to his name before suffering a thigh injury then followed by a fractured right fibula.

Since returning from injury he’s not been the Dembele of last season, as such Lyon are open to selling if they receive a suitable offer from potential suitors in the transfer market.

With the relegation staring the Magpies in the face, the need to recruit in January has made them draw up a list of young and experience players that could help them navigate the relegation battle.

Among the players listed for the January transfer business is Moussa Dembele, Everton’s Lucas Digne, Kieran Trippier, and Lille’s Sven Botman.
