Man City’s Rodri Sidelined for Remainder of Season with ACL Injury

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

Manchester City midfielder Rodri will miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury during the team’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

The 28-year-old was substituted in the 21st minute after awkwardly planting his foot, and initial tests confirmed torn cruciate ligaments.

While Rodri was able to hobble off the pitch, the injury is likely to sideline him for the remainder of the season, a significant blow to City’s hopes of securing a fifth consecutive Premier League title.

Rodri’s injury comes shortly after he voiced concerns over the heavy demands placed on footballers, advocating for a reduction in the number of matches players are expected to compete in.

He has been integral to City’s recent success, playing a pivotal role in their treble-winning 2022/23 campaign, including scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final.

City manager Pep Guardiola admitted he didn’t yet know the full extent of the injury but emphasized Rodri’s importance, calling him the “best holding midfielder in the world” and a potential Ballon d’Or contender.

Guardiola acknowledged the difficulty of losing such a key player, especially during a crucial part of the season.

City’s three Premier League defeats last season occurred without Rodri on the pitch, underlining his importance.

With Rodri now sidelined, Guardiola will have to rely on players like Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, and Matheus Nunes to fill the void.
