Kompany’s Bayern Munich Monitoring Zinchenko Amid Left-Back Search

Bayern Munich is reportedly eyeing Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko as their potential first signing under newly appointed manager, Vincent Kompany.

Despite Kompany’s recent introduction to the media, Bayern has wasted no time in identifying transfer targets, with Zinchenko, aged 27, on their radar.

Zinchenko, who found himself relegated to third choice for the left-back position under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, faces stiff competition with the return of Jurrien Timber from injury.

This intensified competition has piqued Bayern’s interest, especially with rumors swirling around Alphonso Davies potentially moving to Real Madrid.

Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £35 million in 2022, has struggled for consistent game time due to a change in Arteta’s strategy and ongoing calf issues.

However, his previous stint with Kompany at City, where he primarily operated as a left-back despite his midfield origins, makes him an appealing prospect for Bayern.

Bayern’s interest in left-backs extends to AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, known for his attacking prowess.

However, the French international comes with a hefty price tag of €80 million (£68m), potentially denting Bayern’s finances.

Zinchenko, in an end-of-season social media post, acknowledged his performance downturn but expressed confidence in his ability to bounce back stronger.

He remains committed to Arsenal’s journey despite the disappointing season.
