Former Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus striker Jose Altafini says Victor Osimhen’s importance to the Partenopei is what Mo Salah is to Liverpool.
The legend reckons that Osimhen is having the same impact at Napoli as Mo Salah does for Liverpool both in Europe and the English Premier League.
Since joining from Ligue 1 side Lille for a record fee, the Nigeria international has always been the go to man for the Partenopei in Serie A and Europe.
Though he didn’t have a good start to life in Napoli when he joined, but his performances so far has been on the upward trajectory scoring nine goals in 14 games before his injury against Inter Milan.
Prior to his injury against Inter Milan, the former Lille forward was having an excellent season with goal involvement of eleven in 14 appearances across all competitions for the Partenopei.
Altafini in an interview with Italian news outlet said: “With due proportions, for me the Nigerian is to the Neapolitans as Salah is to Liverpool. And his importance is as important as Mbappe’s for Paris Saint Germain. A heavy absence for the Campania region.”
With the Super Eagles forward still on the sidelines, Napoli had only managed just one win in their last four games in Serie A, losing two and drawing the other.
However, having resumed training following the success of his surgery, the lanky forward his expected to make Napoli’s match day squad against AC Milan.
