Hoffman to resign as Premier League boss

Premier League chairman, Gary Hoffman, is set to resign from his position after just eighteen months on the job.

The reason for Hoffman’s possible resignation is connected to the backlash received from fans over the Newcastle take over by the Saudi Arabian consurtium.

There are reports that Premier League clubs have been furious with the leadership’s handling of the Newcastle United sale to a Saudi-led consortium and a majority had been calling for Hoffman to lose his job for weeks.

Following the takeover, league officials were forced to explain to the other 19 clubs how the deal was approved when the issue was not on the agenda at the stakeholders meeting two weeks prior to the sale.

However, Hoffman could rescind his decision to resign if enough clubs support him, but such event is pretty unlikely.
