Italian and Roma legend Francesco Totti has revealed that Serie A teams are still reaching out to him about a potential return to professional football.
The 48-year-old, who retired in 2017 after an illustrious career with Roma—making 786 appearances and scoring 307 goals—suggested he could regain playing fitness with two to three months of training.
Totti admitted that the offers have made him contemplate a comeback, stating, “It would be difficult, but in life you never say never.”
However, he firmly rejected the idea of playing for Roma‘s rivals, Lazio, saying, “I wouldn’t even consider it.”
He also emphasized his preference to return to Italy rather than abroad if he were to make a comeback.
Reflecting on his retirement, Totti expressed that it was not his choice and that he still feels a desire to play, stating, “There’s a beginning and an end to everything,” and noting that the decision left an open window in his heart.
Meanwhile, Roma has had a challenging start to the 2023-24 season, currently sitting 10th in the league.
They recently parted ways with club legend Daniele De Rossi after failing to win any of their first four matches, leading to the appointment of Ivan Jurić, who has secured two wins in four games since taking charge.
