Craig Bellamy has been appointed as the head coach of the Wales men’s national team until 2028.
Bellamy was an assistant to Vincent Kompany during his two-year stint at Burnley.
“It’s an incredible honour for me to be given the opportunity to lead my country and it’s the proudest moment of my career.
It was always my ultimate dream to become the Cymru head coach and I am ready for the challenge.
“I will give my full commitment to develop this team and I am passionate to bring continued success into Welsh football. I can’t wait to get started with our Nations League games in September.” Bellamy said regarding his appointment.
He will make his debut as Wales head coach against Turkey in the UEFA Nations League on the 6th of September.
As a player, Bellamy represented Wales on 78 occasions between 1998 and 2014, scoring 19 goals.
His experience at the international level, coupled with his time at prominent clubs such as Newcastle United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Blackburn Rovers, brings a wealth of knowledge to his new coaching role.
