FIFA Arab Cup: Algeria emerges champions

The defending champions of the 2021 AFCON scheduled to kick off in Cameroon next year, Algeria, have emerged champions of the maiden FIFA Arab Cup following a 2-n win over Tunisia after extra-time on Saturday.
Goals from Amir Sayoud Yacine Brahimi saw Algeria add the FIFA Arab Cup to the AFCON title they won in 2019 in Egypt.
Following a goalless ninety minutes, the deadlock was broken in the ninty-ninth minute as substitute, Sayoud curled home a superb effort past rooted Tunisia goalkeeper Mouez Hassen.
Then, right at the death and with Tunisia keeper Hassen desperately contesting a corner in the Algerian area, Brahimi raced on to a clearance, ran all the way to the Carthage Eagles’ goal, and blasted the ball into an empty net.
Meanwhile, hosts of the FIFA Arab Cup, Qatar had edged Egypt 5-4 on penalties in the third-placed match earlier on Saturday.
