Nigeria international Tyronne Ebuehi has completed a permanent deal to join Serie A side Empoli from Portuguese club, Benfica.
The Italian outfit confirmed the arrival of the 26-year-old defender on their social media on Tuesday.
According to Empoli, the Super Eagles full-back has been handed a three-year contract that will keep him at the Stadio Carlo Castellani until June 2025.
Despite spending four years with the Portuguese giants since joining from ADO Den Haag in 2018, Ebuehi did not play a single game for the Primeira Liga side due to a combination of factors, including a lengthy injury.
The Super Eagles player spent last season on loan at Venezia, featuring in 19 Serie A games.
In spite of his stellar performance last season, Ebuehi couldn’t help the Winged Lions, as they are fondly called, escape relegation.
Ebuehi’s impressive display was however enough to earn him a move to Empoli ahead of the 2022/23 season.
With the addition of the Nigerian, Empoli will aim to improve on their 14th-place finish in the Italian Serie A last term.
