Dominant Real Madrid put two past city rival Atletico Madrid on Sunday night in the Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabeu, to extend their lead on the table with 13 point.

Karim Benzema returned from injury to volley in a brilliant goal in the first half for Los Blancos, having received a pinpoint pass from Vinicius Jnr to put the home team ahead.

Los Rojiblancos came close to equalizing when Antoine Griezmann curled a free kick above the Madrid wall to forced a brilliant save from Thibaut Courtois, before he was taken off at the break along with Carrasco to pave way for Joao Felix and Thomas Lemar.

Atletico Madrid took the game to Real Madrid following the introduction of Felix and Lemar, but the Real Madrid’s goalkeeper brilliant performance on the night denied them of a goal.

Luka Jovic who came on for Benzema held the ball up well and fed it to Vinicius, who got his second assist on the night to set up Asensio for Real Madrid’s second goal after Lemar lost possession of the ball.

Real Madrid held on for the victory that moves them 13 points clear of their city rival, and 18 ahead of Barcelona who dropped point against Osasuna.
