David Okereke’s second half goal helped SeireA strugglers, Venezia claim a shocking and priceless 3-2 victory against a Jose Mourinho led Roma side on Sunday.

Venezia, the hosts, got off to a dream start when Mattia Caldara curled in a lovely free kick as early as the third minute to give the SerieA newcomers an unusual against a Roma side who are trying to get back into the top four race.

While doing the most of the defending to hold on to the early lead, Paolo Zanetti’s men had the chance to strengthen their one goal advantage but David Okereke and Sofian Kiyine weren’t clinical enough upfront to help Venezia hold on to the lead firmly.

And soon enough, they were punished for the lethargy as Roma scored two quick goals in succession in the closing stages of the first half through Tammy Abraham and Eldor Shomurodov.

Roma continued to pile the pressure on after the teams re-emerged in the second half but a penalty incident where Bryan Cristante caught Caldara after attempting a wild clearance in the box.

Aramu made no mistake with the resulting penalty as Venezia scored more than once at home for the first time this season.

The highly entertaining match took another style when Ethan Ampadu’s long ball over the top found out the Roma backline and the Nigerian international raced through, produced a step over and slid past Rui Patricio to send the home fans to the seventh cloud.

Roma goalkeeper, Rui Patricio had to be alert to repel further efforts from Okereke and Caldara to keep the result at 3-2. But substitute, Thomas Henry’s sidefoot volley hit the bar as the underdogs held out for a memorable triumph, moving up to 14th place on the log.
