Chelsea have announced that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has had to go under the knife due to an injury he sustained in training.
Prior to their game against Manchester City, manager Frank Lampard was relatively upbeat about Mendy’s status, saying he’d been “training a little bit more than he was”.
However, it has since been revealed that the Senegalese star fractured his finger and has now undergone surgery, setting him back yet again.
This setback is yet another blow for the already decimated Chelsea side, with a total of ten first-team players currently out injured following Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic’s injuries within 20 minutes of their clash against City.
