Caleb Okoli’s future is uncertain after Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League, with his agent, Alessandro Barison, revealing that the 23-year-old has attracted interest from Italian clubs. Okoli, who joined Leicester from Atalanta last summer on a five-year deal, has been linked with a return to Italy, with both AC Milan and Bologna reportedly showing interest.
According to Leicestershire Live, Barison acknowledged the ongoing rumors and stated, “When the bells ring, it means the church is close. If these rumours are going around, it means there is some truth to them.” He also mentioned that Bologna’s technical director, Giovanni Sartori, holds Okoli in high regard and confirmed that there have been several inquiries about the player.
Despite the speculation, Barison emphasized that staying at Leicester is still a possibility, especially as the club prepares for life in the Championship. “We will meet with the club soon to talk about this too,” he added, speaking to Tutto Mercato. “It doesn’t mean that staying where he is can’t be good, but we need to evaluate everything, from the Championship to the project for the future.”
The agent also highlighted Okoli’s ambitions for the national team, noting that playing in the Championship could impact his chances of maintaining a spot. “Playing in the Championship is not like playing in the Premier League. He has a market, both in English and Italian football. And we also need to think about the fact that he is aiming for the national team and doesn’t want to lose it.”
