Brazil’s Taffarel Joins Liverpool Coaching Staff

Brazil’s World Cup winning goalkeeper Claudio Taffarel has joined Liverpool’s coaching staff.

Taffarel who was instrumental in Brazil’s USA 1994 World Cup triumph, will join the likes of John Achterberg and Jack Robinson to work with the club’s goalkeeping department.

The Brazilian legend will combine his duties at Anfield with the coaching role he holds with the national team of Brazil.

Jurgen Klopp while asked about the idea of bringing Taffarel into the club’s goalkeeping staff he said.

“We spoke to Allison because two of the best goalies in the world are Brazilians and so we found a solution with bringing in Taffarel as a really nice addition to our whole coaching staff.”

“We really think it can give us just a different view again, to look at different things.”

“We really wants to be a proper goalkeeping school in world football and so that’s why we’re bringing in a third which is Taffarel.”

“We want to build our own philosophy in goalkeeping because we all agree it’s own the game, so that’s why we wanted to have another completely different view on it.”

The former Parma and Galatasaray goalie had 101 appearances with the Samba Boys, and also had an illustrious career at club level winning two leagues titles and a UEFA Cup.
