Be Sincere Don’t Just Give Empty Words – Robert Lewandowski Slams Mesi For His Speech

Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandoski has hit back at Lionel Messi’s tribute towards him at last week’s Ballon d’Or award ceremony, labelling his comments empty words.

The former Barcelona forward pipped Lewandoski to the Ballon d’Or prize, with many fans and pundits not convinced enough with the decision to award Messi the gong.

Lewandoski was the standout performer of the 2020 and was cruelly denied the award that year as it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Lionel Messi during his acceptance speech said: “Lewandoski deserved the prize for 2020 and called on event organizers France Football to retrospectively hand the Pole his award”.

“Last year everyone agreed that you were the winner and I think that France Football should give you the Ballon d’Or that you deserve”.

However, the Pole was unmoved by the Paris Saint Germain star comments, labelling them ’empty words’ before insisting that he does not care for a token award.

“I’m not that enthusiastic about getting the 2020 award”. The Pole told Kanale Sportowyn.

“I would like it if Messi’s 2020 Ballon d’Or statement to be a sincere and courteous one from a great player and not just an empty words”.
