Barcelona’s search for a new right-back during the summer transfer window led them to sign Joao Cancelo on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
However, before pursuing Cancelo, Barcelona considered the possibility of signing Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid.
They even offered multiple players as part of a player-plus-cash deal, but Atletico Madrid rejected all offers.
Molina, who played a key role in Argentina’s victory in the 2022 World Cup, has become an important player for Atletico and they have no intention of letting him go to a direct rival like Barcelona unless a highly lucrative fee is offered.
Atletico Madrid plans to continue using Molina and is currently in negotiations for a new contract with him.
