According to reports, Arsenal is contemplating a surprise move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsdale.

Pickford has been a standout player for Everton in recent seasons, delivering excellent performances that have helped the team maintain their Premier League status.

His form at the club level has also translated to the international stage, where he has become a key player for England.

Despite Everton’s financial difficulties, Pickford’s expected departure has caught the attention of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Arteta is reportedly impressed with Pickford’s ball-playing abilities and his exceptional passing range for a goalkeeper.

This interest from Arsenal could potentially disrupt Chelsea’s plans to sign Pickford and make him their number one goalkeeper ahead of Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic.

If Arsenal were to secure Pickford’s signature, it could pave the way for Ramsdale to join Chelsea, who are reportedly considering a move for the English shot-stopper.

With Ramsdale’s anticipated departure from the Emirates at the end of the season, Arsenal has been linked with various goalkeepers to serve as a backup to David Raya.

In addition to Pickford, former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has also been mentioned as a potential target.

Arteta and director of football Edu Gaspar are said to prioritize a homegrown player as Ramsdale’s replacement, and Szczesny, who came through the Arsenal youth academy, fits the bill.

However, his wage demands may pose a challenge.

Another potential option for Arsenal is Brighton’s Jason Steele, who has been in and out of the starting lineup for the Seagulls this season.

As several homegrown players are expected to leave Arsenal in the summer, signing a homegrown goalkeeper has become a priority for Arteta.
