Cyriel Dessers has broken silence on his uncertain future at Rangers, suggesting a possible return to Belgium while keeping his options wide open — www.isagoal.com reports.
According to Soccernet.ng, the Nigerian forward has been linked with multiple transfer exits this summer, including a rejected £30,000-per-week deal from AEK Athens.
The 30-year-old, who married Rosalie Deruysscher in Italy earlier this year, admitted Club Brugge had made approaches in the past but no agreement was ever sealed.
“There were indeed two contacts with Club Brugge,” Dessers told Het Laatste Nieuws. “But nothing materialised at the time.”
The former Cremonese striker confessed he wouldn’t rule out a Belgian Pro League comeback.
“Why not? It’s still too early anyway, but I’ve been abroad for a long time, and I recently bought a house in Mechelen,” he explained.
Dessers also praised KV Mechelen as one of the clubs close to his heart, while adding that he prefers to leave several doors open.
The Rangers striker is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but remains hopeful of featuring in the coming Champions League qualifiers.
