Former Zimbabwe striker Tendai Ndoro has been confirmed dead at his home in Johannesburg, sending shockwaves through African football — www.isagoal.com reports.
According to Sun News, the cause of death has not been revealed, though the 40-year-old had struggled with health problems in recent years.
Orlando Pirates, the club where Ndoro enjoyed his most prolific spell, paid tribute in an emotional statement.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former striker, Tendai Ndoro,” the club wrote. “We extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.”
Ndoro was admired for his sharp finishing and explosive style, scoring 25 goals in 45 appearances for the Buccaneers.
During his time in South Africa, he shared a dressing room with Nigerian defender James Okwuosa, who anchored the Pirates’ backline between 2015 and 2017.
He also trained alongside Nigerian goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, a former Super Eagles prospect, though Daniel’s game time was limited.
Beyond teammates, Ndoro faced tough duels against several Nigerians in the PSL, including Onyekachi Okonkwo at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
His sudden passing has left fans, former teammates, and opponents mourning a striker who once lit up African football.
