According to reports in Spain, Zinedine Zidane is nearing a return to management with Bayern Munich. The former Real Madrid manager has been out of a job since May 2021 but has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
With Thomas Tuchel set to leave Bayern at the end of the season, the club has been on the hunt for a replacement. However, their top candidate, Julian Nagelsmann, recently extended his contract with the German national team, leaving Bayern in need of a new option.
Mundo Deportivo suggests that Zidane is the chosen candidate, with an agreement “practically done.” The French World Cup winner has reportedly already requested improvements to the team’s defense during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Zidane’s successful tenure as head coach of Real Madrid saw him guide the club to two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies. Bayern has considered other potential candidates, including Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, and Jose Mourinho.
However, it seems that Zidane is now the frontrunner for the position. Meanwhile, Tuchel has made it clear that he will leave Bayern at the end of the season, regardless of their performance in the Champions League.
As negotiations progress, it seems increasingly likely that Zidane will soon be announced as the new manager of Bayern Munich.
