Liverpool are reportedly interested in Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as they look to revamp their midfield.
According to reports, the Portuguese player has been a standout performer this season, making 24 league appearances and missing only three due to suspension.
He also currently holds the lead for tackles in the Premier League with 101 – twelve more than Tyler Adams in second and 33 more than Liverpool’s January target Moises Caicedo.
Sources say that Fulham are asking a fee of at least three times Palhinha’s summer transfer figure of £20m.
Palhinha’s defensive numbers have been impressive and he is in the top percentile for tackles in Europe and his importance to Fulham can be seen by them conceding 27% of their goals when he was absent through suspension.
With contracts for Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all due to expire at the end of the season, recruiting Palhinha would be a wise move for Liverpool as his tenacity and presence in midfield could emulate Fabinho’s role and add extra security for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
