Former Wimbledon forward, John Fashanu has urged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to be more clinical in front of goal in their tie against the Sharks of Cape Verde slated for today at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Gernot Rohr’s led team will be in action today in their quest to pick the World Cup ticket ahead of the three other teams in Group C, Liberia whom they defeated in Morocco on Saturday, Cape Verde and Central African Republic.

Recall that Eagles are topping the group with 12 points while the Sharks of Cape Verde sit closely with 10 points following their triumph at home to Central African Republic on Saturday.

Fashanu, who hinted in an interview with Punch Sports Extra said, “The Eagles have to be ruthless against their opponent in Lagos. They have the fans behind them which should give them an advantage over the visitors.”

“Also, having Ighalo back in the team is not a bad idea because it will boost the confidence of the players which is great.”

“When you are playing at home you have an advantage and the Eagles must not mess it up. There is no way Nigeria should lose this match or even draw, these are the kind of matches that we have to firmly and confidently win and show everybody that we are the best in Africa.”

“This is the time to show everyone that we remain a strong side because it hurts when we lose here at home against minnows. So, the Eagles have to show the firepower and desire to win.”

As Lagos set to host the Eagles once against, football loving Nigerian fans will hope the Gernot Rohr led team will make them smile at the end of the game today.
