Xabi Alonso is on his way back to Real Madrid after officially parting ways with Bayer Leverkusen, bringing an emotional close to a successful chapter in the Bundesliga.
According to a report by The Madrid Zone, Real Madrid have agreed to pay Bayer Leverkusen between €5 million and €10 million to secure Alonso’s early release from his contract. The agreement could also include fringe players from Madrid’s squad joining the German club as part of the compensation.
One of the names mentioned in the negotiations is midfielder Nico Paz, a young talent Leverkusen reportedly admire. Additionally, Álvaro Arbeloa, currently coaching in Real Madrid’s youth system, is being considered as Alonso’s potential replacement at Leverkusen.
Alonso’s exit follows a historic Bundesliga title win with Leverkusen, beating out Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. His impact during his tenure has not gone unnoticed, and his next step is one fans in Madrid have long anticipated.
