Former Arsenal star William Gallas has warned that signing Victor Osimhen could cause trouble in Mikel Arteta’s squad, IsaGoal can report.
Speaking with Prime Casino, Gallas suggested that Osimhen’s strong character may not blend well with Arteta’s approach, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen, known for his sharp attacking instincts, has scored 85 goals and provided 14 assists in 112 matches for Napoli and Galatasaray.
Despite being the 2023 CAF Player of the Year, some clubs are hesitant about his high transfer fee.
Gallas said, “Victor Osimhen is a top-class striker but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta.”
He believes Arsenal should consider Viktor Gyokeres or Alexander Isak instead of Osimhen.
“Viktor Gyokeres would be a better fit, but Arsenal must win the Premier League next season, which means they need to sign Alexander Isak,” Gallas explained.
He continued, “Isak is perfect for Arsenal. He would adapt instantly and give them the best chance of winning the title. They don’t have time to let a striker settle.”
Gallas added, “Arsenal should break the bank for Isak. He is a 20-goal striker and would be surrounded by top-quality players.”
With Jorginho leaving and Thomas Partey also likely to exit, Gallas thinks Martin Zubimendi could be key for Arsenal.
“Mikel Arteta might have found his own version of Rodri in Martin Zubimendi,” he said.
“Zubimendi can sit in front of the defence, protect, and let others go forward,” Gallas concluded.
Arsenal will start their 2025/2026 Premier League season on August 17th with a tough game against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
