Why Osimhen Snubbed Al-Hilal to Join Galatasaray Revealed

Victor Osimhen’s summer transfer saga took a surprising twist, and Kalidou Koulibaly has finally revealed what swayed his decision to Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen turned down a blockbuster move to Al-Hilal, instead signing a four-year contract with Turkish champions Galatasaray – www.isagoal.com reports.

The Super Eagles forward first joined the Istanbul giants on loan for the 2024/25 season, where he quickly became a star under coach Okan Buruk.

During that campaign, Osimhen won the Golden Boot and played a decisive role in securing both the Turkish Super Lig title and the League Cup.

Al-Hilal pushed hard with huge financial offers, but Osimhen refused to be swayed by money.

Former Napoli captain Kalidou Koulibaly, now leading Al-Hilal, admitted he personally hoped Osimhen would join him in Saudi Arabia.

“There was a way to feel, I frankly illustrated our reality in Saudi Arabia to Osimhen,” Koulibaly told Gazzetta.

He added, “He explained to me that Istanbul enthusiastically welcomed him and his family, and that there are strong ambitions. He made his choice, and I wish him the best.”

The Nigerian striker found comfort in the passionate support at RAMS Park, where fans made him feel at home immediately.

Koulibaly, meanwhile, has gone on to lift the Saudi Pro League title, the Saudi Cup, and two Saudi Super Cups with Al-Hilal.

Both stars are thriving in different leagues, but Osimhen’s heart was ultimately won by Galatasaray’s supporters and the city’s embrace.
