West Ham Reject Chelsea’s Player-Plus-Cash Bid

West Ham turned down Chelsea’s offer for Mohammed Kudus that included players plus cash as Kudus prefers to stay in Premier League over Saudi interest

West Ham has declined a player-plus-cash offer from Chelsea for midfielder Mohammed Kudus, according to talkSPORT. Chelsea proposed sending Robert Sanchez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to West Ham as part of the deal.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023 for £38 million, is determined to remain in the Premier League despite strong interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder scored four goals and provided five assists in the 2024/25 season and has a total of 19 goals and ten assists in 80 appearances for West Ham.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Kudus is a notable development amid their recent transfer activity. The Blues signed striker Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30 million but failed to secure winger Jadon Sancho, who returned to Manchester United after personal terms were not agreed. Meanwhile, West Ham is exploring options to strengthen their squad after goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski left, with reported talks ongoing for Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale.

Kudus reportedly has release clauses that complicate any transfer. His contract contains a £120 million Saudi-specific release clause and an active £85 million clause for Premier League clubs. Despite this, West Ham’s disappointing 14th-place finish in the Premier League this season, well below Chelsea’s Champions League qualification, may influence future decisions.

Chelsea has invested heavily in recent transfer windows, with new signings such as 17-year-old Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian, agreed upon last year for £29 million. However, some acquisitions like Sanchez and Dewsbury-Hall have yet to fully meet expectations. Dewsbury-Hall has started 16 of 29 appearances since his £30 million transfer from Leicester, while Sanchez has split goalkeeping duties despite his £20 million price tag.

Kudus has declined offers from the Saudi Pro League, emphasizing his preference to compete in the Premier League. West Ham remains cautious, balancing the player’s value and their own squad needs as they consider future moves.
