Victor Osimhen is edging closer to a long-awaited summer move, with conflicting developments emerging over his next destination. The Nigerian forward, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, is now the subject of intense transfer talks involving Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
According to multiple sources, Chelsea have reignited their interest in Osimhen after previously failing to land the striker during the final hours of last summer’s transfer window. A fresh £60million offer has reportedly been submitted to Napoli, and while this falls below the striker’s release clause, negotiations are ongoing.
However, Sky Sport CH journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Osimhen has already agreed personal terms with Al-Hilal. The Saudi club have offered the 25-year-old a lucrative three-year contract worth £89million, with additional performance-related bonuses.
Medical Scheduled as Deadline Looms
In a further twist, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport (Italia) has confirmed that Osimhen has accepted Al-Hilal’s offer, despite the Saudi club’s current bid falling €5million (£4m) short of Napoli’s €75million (£63m) asking price. Nevertheless, Al-Hilal are hopeful of wrapping up the deal swiftly.
Ben Jacobs of GiveMeSport claims a medical has been scheduled for Osimhen in Paris, with a view to completing the transfer before the exceptional registration period closes on 10 June. Al-Hilal are pushing to have Osimhen signed in time for the Club World Cup, where they could face Chelsea in the final on July 13.
Chelsea’s Wage Structure a Stumbling Block?
Chelsea’s ongoing interest is tempered by concerns over Osimhen’s wage demands, which previously exceeded the club’s strict salary structure. That discrepancy was reportedly the key reason the Blues failed to sign him last summer.
However, with new head coach Enzo Maresca seeking a proven No.9 to lead the line, Chelsea are said to be more flexible and willing to make exceptions for a player of Osimhen’s calibre.
Napoli’s Position and Next Steps
Napoli, keen to offload Osimhen permanently this summer, are believed to be open to both proposals. The club is actively negotiating with Al-Hilal while keeping communication lines open with Chelsea, who remain hopeful of hijacking the deal at the last minute.
Final Decision Expected This Weekend
With time running out before the Saudi transfer window closes, all parties are pushing for a final resolution. Osimhen is expected to be in Paris on Saturday, where he could complete his medical and sign with Al-Hilal—unless Chelsea table an improved offer that convinces both Napoli and the player to reconsider.
