Van Dijk Responds to Owen After Everton Derby Win

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

Virgil van Dijk is setting the record straight after Michael Owen’s comments on Liverpool’s season.

Following Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Everton in the Merseyside Derby, Owen suggested that the team’s early exits from the Carabao Cup and the Champions League could leave a “bitter taste” if they win the Premier League title.

Van Dijk wasn’t having it. “So you’re suggesting the season is not going to be special anymore?” he shot back.

Owen conceded that the season could still be special but added it could have been even more.

Van Dijk wasn’t done yet. “I think we have to change that narrative a little bit… it’s still looking very special in my eyes,” he said.

According to Mirror Football, Van Dijk reminded everyone that no one expected Liverpool to even compete on four fronts this season. Yet, here they are, still in the hunt for the biggest prize of them all.

As for the injury front, Arne Slot gave an update.

Conor Bradley, who has been sidelined, could be in line to replace Curtis Jones at right-back for the Fulham game. Slot said, “Curtis did well and Jarell did well also,” praising the players who have stepped up.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez won’t be back for a few weeks. And with Alisson recovering from concussion, he’s expected to return against Fulham.

Meanwhile, James Tarkowski has apologized to Alexis Mac Allister after his high tackle in the derby. He admitted, “I spoke to him and I apologised because it’s not a great tackle.”
