Donald Trump didn’t just join Chelsea’s Club World Cup trophy lift—he apparently kept the real thing while handing the team a replica, IsaGoal can report.
As bizarre as it sounds, the U.S. President revealed during a mid-game interview with DAZN that the trophy in Chelsea‘s hands wasn’t the original.
Instead, Trump claimed the official FIFA Club World Cup trophy was handed to him at the White House and will now remain in the Oval Office.
“They said, ‘Could you hold this trophy for a little while? We put it in the Oval Office,’” Trump told DAZN.
“And then I said, ‘When are you going to pick up the trophy?’ He says, ‘We’re never gonna pick it up. You can have it forever in the Oval Office.’”
Trump said FIFA made a new version of the trophy for Chelsea’s big moment following their 3-0 triumph over PSG in the 2025 final.
Chelsea stars like Reece James and Cole Palmer had celebrated on stage with the replica, completely unaware of the switch.
The original trophy, designed by Tiffany & Co., includes two engravings referencing FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
One engraving reads: “We are witness to a new age. The golden era of club football: the era of the FIFA Club World Cup. The pinnacle of all club competitions.”
Another includes Infantino’s signature, further fueling questions about FIFA’s decision to gift the item permanently.
