Trabzonspor are exploring a potential deal for Nigerian striker Elijah Adebayo as a backup option to Paul Onuachu, IsaGoal can report.

As revealed by Soccernet.ng, the Turkish Super Lig side are monitoring the 27-year-old despite his ongoing recovery from a serious ACL injury.

The 1.93m forward played a crucial role in Luton Town’s rise to the Premier League and left his mark with a historic hat-trick in a 4–0 win over Brighton in January.

Adebayo missed the final months of last season due to injury and is not expected to return to full fitness until late 2025.

Despite his absence, Trabzonspor are reportedly open to negotiations, with Luton valuing the striker at around €6.5 million.

The club sees him as a strong candidate to offer depth behind Onuachu, who recently rejoined them after a productive loan spell.

“Elijah is a goal threat with the kind of presence we want up front,” a Turkish outlet quoted a club source as saying.

In total, Adebayo has scored 10 Premier League goals in 27 appearances, along with 33 goals and eight assists in the Championship.

He also tallied 25 goals in League Two, making him one of Nigeria’s most consistent attacking exports in England over the last few seasons.

Trabzonspor’s interest shows they remain ambitious, even when scouting players currently sidelined by injury.
