Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to leave the club this summer after contract negotiations reportedly hit a dead end. Partey’s current deal with the Gunners expires on June 30, 2025, and no meaningful progress has been made to secure an extension.

According to ESPN, talks between Arsenal and Partey’s representatives have completely broken down, making his departure increasingly likely. The Ghanaian international joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for £45 million and has since made 167 appearances across five seasons.

Partey played a key role in Arsenal’s title challenge last season, starting 31 Premier League games and contributing significantly to their Champions League qualification. However, with his future now uncertain, clubs like Barcelona and several Turkish sides are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has publicly expressed his desire to keep Partey at the Emirates Stadium. “Yes, I think this has been his most consistent season,” Arteta said. “The way he’s played, his performances, his availability — he’s been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us.”

Speaking about his own future, Partey reflected on the factors that matter most at this stage in his career. “The first thing is where you’re happy and where you feel at home,” he said. “We all have families to think about — this is always on our minds. We’re not getting younger.”

“When you’re young, you just want to play anywhere,” Partey continued. “But now, you have to consider your family and where they will be happiest.”

Although Partey is set to leave on a free transfer, he made it clear that the decision is not entirely in his hands. “I’m an Arsenal fan. I can’t make the decision by myself — I have to leave it to my agent and the club. For me, I just want to enjoy playing football.”
