Nintendo Switch 2 Game Sizes Revealed – Is 256GB Enough?

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

With the Nintendo Switch 2 just weeks away, fans are gearing up for launch day—especially those wondering how far the console’s storage will go with upcoming games.

According to a report from The Mirror, the Switch 2 comes with 256GB of internal storage, a big jump from the 32GB on the original Switch and 64GB on the OLED model. This upgrade makes room for much larger games, though some of the top titles remain surprisingly storage-friendly.

Mario Kart World, the new launch title, comes in at just 23.4GB, despite featuring open-world elements and a roster full of characters. As Lloyd Coombes put it, “Despite packing a huge open world, dozens of racers, and more, it’s only 23.4GB in size.”

Other major Nintendo titles also come in under 25GB. Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch 2 version) uses 24.2GB, while Tears of the Kingdom is 19.9GB. New entries like Donkey Kong Bananza are even smaller at 10GB, and updated versions of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree take up 13GB each.

However, third-party titles push the limits. Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to require 64GB, and Yakuza 0 clocks in at 54GB. Even with these larger games, players can install several before hitting the console’s storage ceiling.

Here’s a breakdown of confirmed game sizes:

  • Cyberpunk 2077 – 64GB
  • Yakuza 0 – 54GB
  • Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 24.2GB
  • Mario Kart World – 23.4GB
  • Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – 19.9GB
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land – 13GB
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree – 13GB
  • Bravely Default – 11GB
  • Donkey Kong Bananza – 10GB
  • GameCube Nintendo Classics App – 3.5GB

Combined, these add up to just under 235GB, leaving a small margin for updates or future titles.

Nintendo also confirmed that previous microSD cards will not work with the Switch 2. The new console supports MicroSD Express cards only, which offer faster read/write speeds and better overall performance.

Early buyers will likely be able to manage their library without needing additional storage immediately. But with more large games on the horizon—like Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and Borderlands 4—an upgrade may become necessary sooner rather than later.
