Christantus Uche’s move to Wolverhampton Wanderers has suddenly hit a stumbling block, despite earlier claims that a deal was close – www.isagoal.com reports.
According to Soccernet.ng, Wolves agreed to pay €20m for the Nigerian forward after his breakout season in La Liga where he produced four goals and six assists.
Getafe president Ángel Torres expressed frustration at La Liga’s registration rules, admitting, “We’re only selling Uche because of La Liga. I am forced to sell him, I have no other choice.”
While Wolves thought the signing was secure, AC Milan entered the picture this week, sending a club director to personally watch Uche against Sevilla.
Crystal Palace have also joined late, with reports in England linking them after Eberechi Eze’s departure to Arsenal.
Despite the strong interest, Uche has shown hesitation about leaving Spain, with Spanish outlets claiming he is leaning towards staying at Getafe.
Transfer insider Matteo Moretto confirmed that negotiations with Wolves are close to collapse as uncertainty grows around the striker’s final decision.
Getafe coach José Bordalás has already spoken out, insisting he wants Uche to remain after his brilliant start to the season, which included a goal and assist versus Celta Vigo.
