Super Eagles Confirm Camp opening Date Ahead of Rwanda, SA Clashes

Nigeria have confirmed their camp opening date in Uyo as the Super Eagles prepare for must-win World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Rwanda

The Nigeria Football Federation has officially fixed September 1 as the opening date for the Super Eagles camp in Uyo ahead of their World Cup qualifiers — www.isagoal.com reports.

According to Soccernet.ng, the Eagles will host Rwanda in Uyo on September 6 before heading to Bloemfontein to face South Africa on September 9.

Nigeria sit fourth in their group after six matches, with only seven points collected.

Their record so far includes one win, three draws, and a damaging loss to Benin Republic.

South Africa lead the table with 13 points, while Rwanda and Benin both stand on eight.

Lesotho and Zimbabwe trail with six and four points respectively.

Only the group winner qualifies directly for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Head coach Eric Chelle has not yet unveiled his squad list for the September fixtures.

The announcement is expected once he returns from the African Nations Championship in Tanzania.

Nigeria’s home-based side struggled there, falling 1-0 to Senegal and 4-0 against Sudan before facing Congo in their final group game.

“Qualification remains in our hands, and we must fight for it,” Chelle said earlier this month.

The Eagles are desperate to avoid another heartbreak after missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to Ghana.
