Super Eagles Coach Chelle Warns NFF Over Contract Payout

Eric Chelle insists he must be paid in full if the Nigeria Football Federation decides to sack him after the Super Eagles’ CHAN disappointment

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has warned the Nigeria Football Federation that any attempt to dismiss him will only stand if they are ready to pay his contract in full – www.isagoal.com reports.

Chelle’s job has been under scrutiny since Nigeria’s shock exit at the group stage of the 2024 African Nations Championship.

The 47-year-old admitted he has heard whispers of possible replacements being lined up ahead of September’s World Cup qualifiers.

“I know, quite well, that I can be fired after one match. This is the life in football. But if they decide to do that, they must be prepared to pay up the remainder of my contract,” Chelle said in an interview with Osasu Obayiuwana.

He stressed that money was never the reason he accepted the Super Eagles role, explaining that he took the job because of the team’s size and potential.

“When I came to Nigeria, I didn’t come here because of money. I was earning more in my last job. I came here because this is a very big team and I want to prove something,” he added.

Chelle also revealed limited communication with the NFF hierarchy since his appointment, saying he has mostly worked on his own.

The former MC Oran coach currently earns about $50,000 per month in his role with Nigeria.
