Kamaldeen Sulemana has addressed swirling speculation about him stepping in for Ademola Lookman at Atalanta, stating he’s not in Bergamo to replace anyone – www.isagoal.com reports.
Lookman, currently linked with a move to Inter Milan, has drawn a €45 million bid from the Serie A giants, according to Soccernet.ng, who also note the player is eager to make the switch after turning down Napoli’s offer.
Atalanta signed Sulemana from Southampton for €17 million on a four-year contract, including an optional extension, as they brace for a potential departure of their Nigerian forward.
The 23-year-old Ghanaian joined preseason under Ivan Juric and has already caught attention with his pace and energy, with Juric saying, “He is awake in accelerations and shots… a boy to be built, but with great desire to grow.”
Still, Sulemana insists he’s focused on his own path. “I want to clarify that I did not come to replace Ademola Lookman,” he told Inter News. “He’s a great player from whom I want to learn a lot.”
Atalanta left Lookman out of the squad that faced RB Leipzig, increasing expectations of an imminent transfer and signaling that the club may soon enter a new attacking phase.
