Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is set to return to the UK this Friday, ending his holiday early following the devastating death of his teammate Diogo Jota, IsaGoal can report.
According to Yallakora and Turkiye Today, the Egyptian winger—who had been vacationing in Bodrum, Turkey, after visiting Mombasa and Mykonos—will head back to Merseyside ahead of the official pre-season kickoff on Tuesday, July 8.
Salah’s early return comes as the football world mourns the loss of Jota, who tragically died alongside his younger brother Andre Silva in a car crash in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday morning.
Reports indicate Jota was traveling to Santander to catch a ferry to England, having been advised not to fly after recent lung surgery.
The mood at Liverpool has shifted from joy to grief, just weeks after celebrating their Premier League title win.
Jota had formed a strong partnership with Salah, playing 150 games together since his £45m move from Wolves in 2020.
Although Salah has not yet commented publicly, tributes from the club and teammates have poured in.
Darwin Núñez wrote: “There are no words of comfort for so much pain… I will always remember you with your smile.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold, now at Real Madrid, shared: “Your family was your world… Brothers and best friends. Rest in peace, Diogo.”
Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, and Caoimhin Kelleher also expressed their heartbreak, along with manager Arne Slot and Fenway Sports Group, who published a statement on the club website.
Jota, 28, was a key part of Liverpool’s recent success, both domestically and internationally, and his sudden loss leaves a deep void in the footballing community.
