Sadio Mane, the former Liverpool forward, sparked interest with his short but intriguing answer about a possible move to Newcastle United.

According to the Daily Star, Conservative peer Martin Callanan asked Mane about joining Newcastle during a conference in Senegal.

Callanan later posted on social media: “I couldn’t resist asking him about coming to Newcastle next season. His enigmatic reply: ‘Never say never!’”

Mane, who left Liverpool in 2022 for Bayern Munich, now plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

During his six years at Liverpool, the Senegalese winger scored 120 goals and provided 46 assists.

He helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

Mane’s time at Bayern Munich was short and difficult, marked by an injury before the Qatar World Cup and a reported clash with teammate Leroy Sane.

Since moving to Saudi Arabia, Mane has stayed productive, with 62 goal contributions in 93 appearances for Al-Nassr.

It’s unclear whether Mane’s answer was a polite remark or a real hint at a Premier League return.

With one year left on his current contract and now in his thirties, a Newcastle move seems unlikely.

Still, Mane’s career has taken surprising turns before.

He once came close to joining Manchester United, but Jurgen Klopp changed his path with one phone call.

“I was really close to going to Manchester United,” Mane told The Telegraph. “I was convinced to go with Klopp’s project.”
