Luka Modric is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, closing a legendary 13-year chapter with the club. As Los Blancos prepare for life without their iconic midfielder, the focus shifts to finding a suitable replacement — and attention is firmly on the Premier League.

According to a report, Madrid’s shortlist features multiple players from England’s top flight, with Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister emerging as a key candidate. The Argentine has been a vital presence in Liverpool’s midfield since joining in 2023, making 49 appearances this season and playing a central role in their title-winning campaign under Arne Slot.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in acquiring Mac Allister, though prising him away from Anfield won’t be easy. His current deal runs until 2028, and Liverpool would likely demand a substantial fee.

Mac Allister isn’t the only Premier League name being tracked. Manchester City’s Rodri, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, is considered the top target. He recently returned from an ACL injury and has impressed since regaining fitness. Despite his ties to Madrid’s local rivals Atletico, Rodri is said to admire the Spanish giants and could be open to a switch.

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez is also on the radar. The midfielder, signed for £107 million in early 2023, has had a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge but remains a valuable asset. Chelsea are unlikely to part ways easily, and any potential deal would require Madrid to meet a nine-figure valuation.

Other names being monitored include Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson, though Madrid appear intent on securing a more experienced option.

Modric, who joined from Tottenham in 2012, leaves behind a legacy of excellence. With 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles and a Ballon d’Or in 2018, he’s become one of the club’s most decorated players. Speaking last month, Modric expressed his wish: “Yes, I’d like to retire at Real Madrid, it would be a dream for me.”

His final match for Madrid will come this summer at the Club World Cup, where they’ll face Al Hilal, RB Salzburg, and Pachuca.
